Bilal

Bilal Sayeed Oliver (born August 23, 1979), also known by the stage name of just Bilal, is an American "neo soul" and jazz singer, who is also member of the musical collective known as Soulquarians. In 2001, his debut album, 1st Born Second, was released on the Interscope record label.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Oliver attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts as a vocal major in the class of 1997. Bilal's classical training at the Mannes Music Conservatory in New York was instrumental to his conversance with Jazz, voice, and big band arrangements. Bilal reportedly can sing opera in seven languages and writes both music and lyrics.

In 1995, Bilal met brothers Faulu and Damu Mtume, the sons of James Mtume and founders of Moyo Entertainment, at a barber shop in Philadelphia. His plans to produce film scores was shelved after he handed the brothers a demo recording; they were so impressed that they successfully convinced him to record commercially.

Bilal has also frequently collaborated and performed with several neo-soul and alternative hip hop artists, including Common, Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, and The Roots, as well as appearing as backing singer for D'Angelo. He covered Radiohead's "High & Dry" for the 2006 Radiohead tribute album Exit Music: Songs With Radio Heads. Bilal appeared in the film Dave Chappelle's Block Party.

His second full-length recording, Love for Sale, was reportedly shelved in 2005 due to the album being leaked and illegally downloaded.

La situation est clair pour Bilal, c'est pas un poids lourd de label, il devait sortir un 2d album "Love For Sale" qui a était leaké et donc ne sortira pas. Donc il modifie refait l'alum mais bon...on est déja a pratiquement 7 ans depuis la sortie du 1st born...vraiment dommage

Je me repasse en boucle son 1st born, un classique mémorable, toutes les tracks sont des bombes... Vivement la suite parce que là j'en peux plus

Bon j'avoue le leaké est passé par mes oreilles...si c'est bien celui là,franchement il aurait dû quand même le sortir,je l'ai trouvé très bon....

Putain qu'il se grouille, j'en ai entendu parler du nouvel album.... les premiers jours de mon inscription sur 2K... Vous voyez bien que c'est mal barre quoi.

Moi je suis curieux de voir ce qu'il va faire avec Erykah Badu sur son nouvel album,ya un featuring d'annoncé....
